Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, who represents Washington’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has highlighted a series of legislative priorities in recent posts on her official social media account.

On August 8, 2025, Perez wrote, “As a small business owner, I know how crucial it is to plan for a rainy day, & WA families know it too. Our gov’t should hold itself to the same standard, so my bill requires annual fiscal contingency plans so our economy can better weather any crisis.”

The following day, on August 9, she addressed concerns regarding federal support for rural areas: “Rural communities like mine rely on SRS funds for schools & roads to address timber revenue shortfalls. After the program expired, the Senate voted to renew it, and it’s a shame the House was sent home until Sept. without passing it. We need action now.”

In a post dated August 11, Perez discussed law enforcement challenges in her district: “I hear from law enforcement across #WA03 about how difficult it can be to recruit and retain officers. My bipartisan bill will cut down on administrative burdens and strengthen benefits for Tribal law enforcement to support safe communities.”

Perez has served as the congressional representative for Washington’s 3rd District since 2023 after succeeding Jaime Herrera Beutler. Born in Harris County, Texas in 1988 and currently residing in Washougal, Perez graduated from Reed College with a BA in 2012.
