Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, currently serving in the U.S. Congress and representing Washington’s 3rd district since 2023, has recently shared her views on various subjects through a series of tweets.

On June 15, Rep. Perez expressed her patriotism by stating “There’s no better symbol of freedom and democracy than our Stars and Stripes flying high.” She wished a “Happy Flag Day” to Southwest Washington in her post.

The following day, on June 16, she addressed the challenges faced by parents in Congress regarding children’s media consumption. In her tweet, she remarked “Most members of Congress don’t have a young child – so it can be hard to see how online slop is killing our kids’ attention spans.” She mentioned her recent vote to support public broadcasting as a means for children to access higher-quality content.

On June 17, Rep. Perez discussed international affairs with respect to Ukraine’s ongoing conflict. She tweeted “The enemy of our enemy is our friend.” Emphasizing strategic interests, she stated her support for Ukraine to ensure that they are in the strongest position to conclude the war on their terms rather than under adversarial influences like Putin.

Marie Gluesenkamp Perez was born in Harris County, Texas in 1988 and currently resides in Washougal. She graduated from Reed College in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
