Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 3rd district since 2023, has been vocal about various issues through her social media platform. Her recent posts reflect her focus on infrastructure and military readiness.

On May 21, 2025, Rep. Perez expressed concern about the increasing brightness of car headlights, stating that they have “roughly doubled in recent years” and pose a danger to other drivers. She encouraged the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to consider establishing “better maximum brightness standards” in their forthcoming infrastructure discussions. “Car headlights have gotten absurdly bright – roughly doubling in recent years – and it’s dangerous for others on the road.”

Later that day, she addressed another issue concerning military equipment repair by servicemembers. According to Rep. Perez, allowing servicemembers to repair their own equipment is beneficial for military readiness and cost efficiency. She urged the House Armed Services Committee to include her proposed military right-to-repair bill in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). “When our servicemembers can repair their own equipment, it’s not only good for our military readiness and skillset, but it also saves our hard-earned tax dollars.”
