Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, a congresswoman representing Washington’s 3rd District since 2023, has been active on social media discussing educational values and constituent services. Perez, who replaced former U.S. Congress member Jaime Herrera Beutler, recently expressed her viewpoints and ongoing efforts to support her district through a series of tweets.
On April 28, Perez shared her thoughts on nurturing the innate abilities of children, emphasizing the importance of supporting the next generation in trades. She stated, “We need to steward the natural gifts in our children, not tell them they aren’t good enough.” The congresswoman highlighted the significance of recognizing the potential in activities such as children disassembling family lawnmowers or modifying bikes, suggesting these actions could cultivate skilled tradespeople.
Later the same day, Perez announced her team’s presence in Ariel to assist constituents with federal agencies such as the VA, IRS, or Social Security Administration. She acknowledged her office’s success in supporting residents, commenting on the outreach of support, “We’ve now helped more than 2,100 constituents, and it’s a testament to you spreading the word to friends, family, and neighbors about our” services.
On April 29, Perez reaffirmed her commitment to bipartisan efforts in Congress to address the needs of Washington’s 3rd district. She remarked on her approach to legislative voting, stating, “I vote on bills based on their merits, not based on which party sponsors them.” Perez’s statement underscored her focus on the requirements of #WA03 communities and her dedication to transcending party lines in her legislative role.
Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, 34, originally from Harris County, Texas, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Reed College, awarded in 2012. She currently resides in Washougal, Washington.
