Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, a U.S. Congress member representing Washington’s 3rd district since 2023, has recently shared her views on education and postal service security through social media. Born in Harris County, Texas in 1988 and currently residing in Washougal, Perez graduated from Reed College in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

On May 8, 2025, Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez expressed her appreciation for educators during Teacher Appreciation Week. She stated: “Happy #TeacherAppreciationWeek! It’s been a joy meeting educators all across Southwest Washington – and their care and dedication ensures our kids have bright futures. Be sure to thank a teacher!”

Later that day, she highlighted concerns about technological advancements compromising security in another tweet. She mentioned the “Kia Boyz” as an example of this issue, noting that thieves have targeted postal workers for master keys to steal large amounts of mail. She emphasized the importance of protection as the USPS considers transitioning to digital keys.

On May 9, 2025, Rep. Perez reiterated the significance of the postal service as a public asset in another statement. She urged the Administration to avoid privatizing the USPS, arguing that it would increase delivery costs for rural Americans.
