U.S. Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, who serves Washington’s 3rd district, recently addressed issues affecting emergency services and election security in a series of posts on her social media account.
On September 3, 2025, Gluesenkamp Perez wrote: “Upwards of 75% of the emergency vehicles industry has been consolidated by just three companies. That’s driven the price of a new rig to nearly a million dollars in some instances and made it ridiculously expensive for first responders to get replacement parts in others. I”
Two days later, on September 5, she highlighted challenges faced by rural emergency management departments: “Rural emergency management departments have to make a little go a long way. They shouldn’t be bogged down by having to wade through paperwork or chase funding opportunities around. Emergency managers and first responders from across Southwest Washington are committed to showing”
Later that same day, Gluesenkamp Perez commented on voting practices in her state: “In Washington, as well as in most states in the West, the only way we vote is by mail. Paper ballots are the gold standard of election security, and voting by mail is great for working people who don’t have time to stand in line all day. I proposed an amendment to help protect”
Marie Gluesenkamp Perez has represented Washington’s 3rd congressional district since 2023 after succeeding Jaime Herrera Beutler. She was born in Harris County, Texas in 1988 and resides in Washougal. Perez graduated from Reed College with a BA degree in 2012.
