Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 3rd District since 2023, has been actively engaging with local industries to support their growth and sustainability. She took to social media to outline her efforts in promoting infrastructure and agricultural supply chains within her state, emphasizing the necessity for investments that are beneficial beyond political boundaries.

On April 30, 2025, Perez highlighted the importance of investing in durable housing and infrastructure. She shared her involvement with the building trades by meeting members of the North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU). Perez expressed her support for their efforts, stating “When we invest in housing and infrastructure that can last for generations, we’re investing in the building trades. It’s something that rises above politics.”

In another post on the same day, Perez underscored the advantages of strong regional agricultural supply chains for farmers and local economies. She visited McPhee’s Butcher Block, a local business established in response to a shortage of meat processing facilities in the area, and shared her experience, noting “Strong regional ag supply chains benefit our farmers, rural economies, and folks looking to buy local and high-quality.”

Continuing her engagement with the agricultural sector, Perez mentioned securing funds for essential infrastructures such as public grain loading and storage at the Port of Chehalis, as well as support for the Regional Ag Business and Innovation Park in Tenino. She emphasized the critical nature of such infrastructure for the sustainability of family farms, stating “With it being harder to run a family farm, it’s critical our farmers have local infrastructure to keep.”

Perez, who hails from Harris County, Texas, and resides in Washougal, has dedicated her congressional tenure to bridging developmental gaps within her district. She graduated from Reed College in 2012 with a BA and has been an advocate for local industry and infrastructure development.
