Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 3rd district, has been active on social media addressing various issues pertinent to her constituents and beyond. Since replacing Jaime Herrera Beutler in 2023, Perez has continued to engage with the public on topics ranging from consumer rights to law enforcement support.

On May 19, 2025, Rep. Perez highlighted a common grievance about McDonald’s ice cream machines frequently being out of service. In her tweet she expressed approval that the FTC Chairman acknowledges the significance of safeguarding consumer rights.

Later that day, Perez turned her attention to law enforcement challenges amid the ongoing fentanyl crisis. She tweeted about the difficulties in recruiting and retaining officers due to increased pressures. She emphasized the need for adequate childcare, mental health support, and resources for officers’ safety and family time.

In another post on May 19th, Rep. Perez celebrated Southwest Washington’s timber heritage by visiting a local sawmill. Her tweet expressed gratitude towards @HardwoodCascade for their tour of their Chehalis alder sawmill and discussed ways to maintain robust operations within logging, trucking, and milling industries crucial to rural economies.

Marie Gluesenkamp Perez was born in Harris County, Texas in 1988 and now resides in Washougal. A Reed College alumna with a BA degree earned in 2012, she continues her work focusing on key issues affecting her district since assuming office.
