Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 3rd district, has shared several updates via her social media account regarding important legislative matters.

On January 24, 2025, Rep. Perez addressed the financial challenges faced by counties impacted by federal lands in funding essential services such as schools and roads. She highlighted the importance of the Secure Rural Schools (SRS) program in bridging these financial gaps and stressed that “the SRS program is meant to fill in those gaps, but it needs to be reauthorized by the end of the month for funds to stay on schedule.” She warned that without reauthorization, families in rural communities could face difficulties. “In counties impacted by federal lands…”

Three days later, on January 27, 2025, Rep. Perez announced a legislative success with bipartisan support. Her FULL Act, co-authored with Representative Chuck Edwards, was signed into law. This act addresses taxpayer concerns related to government office spaces by repurposing empty offices and assessing lease renewals.
