U.S. Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, who serves Washington’s 3rd district in Congress, recently shared updates on her legislative priorities and community engagement through a series of posts on social media.
On August 18, 2025, Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez announced an upcoming event: “On Wednesday, I’ll be holding my sixth town hall of the year. My legislative priorities in Congress come directly from discussions like these, and I’m grateful to everyone who participates. Your engagement makes our democracy work.”
The following day, she highlighted infrastructure efforts in Longview: “Local leaders in Longview are doing the important work to make sure their neighbors have clean drinking water by upgrading the city’s reservoir. The knowledge I gained from visiting the site is going to help guide my push to bring federal dollars home to support the project.” This post underscored her intent to advocate for federal funding based on firsthand observations at local sites.
Later that same day, Gluesenkamp Perez recognized volunteer organizations in her district: “Volunteer groups like the Longview Pioneer Lions Club are part of the fabric that makes Southwest Washington so special. Their willingness to dig into issues like the substance use crisis and cognitive acuity standards for members of Congress will help inform my work in D.C.”
Marie Gluesenkamp Perez has represented Washington’s 3rd District since 2023 after succeeding Jaime Herrera Beutler. She was born in Harris County, Texas in 1988 and currently resides in Washougal. At age 34, she brings experience as a Reed College graduate with a BA earned in 2012.
