Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, who represents Washington’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on July 22, 2025, highlighting her recent votes and community recognition.

In a message acknowledging local achievement, Gluesenkamp Perez wrote on July 22: “Congrats Brooklynn and Jace! It takes incredible skill and tenacity to compete in rodeo – and I’m so glad y’all are representing our communities with pride!”

Later that day, she addressed her legislative actions regarding federal funding for environmental initiatives. On July 22, she stated: “I just voted against the FY26 Interior funding bill in committee because it wasn’t a good enough deal for Southwest Washington. It slashes funding by more than half for clean water initiatives in our state and reduces resources for the agencies that maintain our public lands,”.

She also discussed her support for an amendment related to rural economic development and military readiness: “I also voted for an amendment that would address timber staffing challenges in Washington and strengthen our military readiness. Rebuilding rural economies matters way more to me than the amendment also renaming an opera house 2,800 miles away.”

Gluesenkamp Perez has served as the representative for Washington’s 3rd District since replacing Jaime Herrera Beutler in 2023. She was born in Harris County, Texas in 1988 and currently resides in Washougal. The congresswoman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Reed College (Fact sources: [1](#), [2](#), [3](#), [4](#)).
