U.S. Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, who has represented Washington’s 3rd District since 2023, recently shared a series of posts highlighting community events and local achievements in Southwest Washington.

On August 11, Gluesenkamp Perez expressed her appreciation for a regional tradition, stating, “The Morton Loggers’ Jubilee is the kind of thing that makes me proud to be an American. It was great to be there again this weekend for the lawn mower races and celebrate the timber heritage that makes Southwest Washington such a special place.”

The following day, she focused on energy infrastructure and workforce development in the area. On August 12, she wrote: “The hydroelectric power generated at Cowlitz Falls helps hardworking families in Southwest Washington keep the lights on at a cost that doesn’t break the bank. It was great to see the dam up close to hear about the importance of trades education and how we can build things that”

On August 13, Gluesenkamp Perez recognized a retiring public official from Cowlitz County. She posted: “Whether it was in the classroom or in public office, former Commissioner Dennis Weber always showed up for our community. Cowlitz County will see the benefits of Dennis’ work for generations to come. I wish you the best in your well-deserved retirement.”

Gluesenkamp Perez took office after succeeding Jaime Herrera Beutler and has been serving as U.S. Representative since 2023. Born in Harris County, Texas in 1988 and currently residing in Washougal, she holds a BA from Reed College (https://bioguide.congress.gov/search/bio/G000602).
