U.S. Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, who represents Washington’s 3rd district in Congress, recently shared a series of reflections and local engagements on her social media accounts.
On August 26, 2025, Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez wrote about meeting with members of the Cowlitz Chaplaincy: “I appreciated the chance to sit down with the Cowlitz Chaplaincy and learn more about their unique perspective on what law enforcement, victims, and their loved ones need on their darkest days. Chaplains are unsung heroes and I’m so grateful for their selfless service.”
Later that day, she commented on a seasonal tradition in rural communities: “This time of year, I have a morbid fascination with windfall apples rotting in ditches – so I was pretty excited to run into a local Grange pressing cider. Our local Grange Halls are the grandaddies of community and economic power for agricultural America.”
On August 27, 2025, Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez honored Mayor Rob Gordon’s legacy of public service: “Mayor Rob Gordon lived a life of service, dedication to his community, and true patriotism. From working as a volunteer firefighter before he was 16, to serving as Assistant Fire Chief and Mayor of Bucoda, he never hesitated to help a neighbor. I’m so glad my bill was signed”.
Marie Gluesenkamp Perez has represented Washington’s 3rd District since 2023 after succeeding Jaime Herrera Beutler. She was born in Harris County, Texas in 1988 and currently resides in Washougal. In addition to her congressional duties, she holds a Bachelor’s degree from Reed College.
