Walla Walla County issued the following announcement.
Recently, Walla Walla County has been going through some challenging times. On February 6, 2020, we experienced flood waters of a proportion not seen in years affecting lives, property and businesses through the valley. We are continuing to actively work through the Emergency Declaration trying to get help to those affected by the flood.
The most recent challenges dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic we know have been hard emotionally, physically and economically on all of you and your families. Each of us have families and businesses affected by this virus as well so we share your frustration. As your elected leaders of the county and your Local Board of Health, we are here to educate you on what needs to be done in order to facilitate the voluntary compliance with STAY HOME-STAY HEALTHY.
We are sure no one wants to be the one who infects their family, friends or co-workers. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Along with you, we want this to be and remain a voluntary compliance and ask you to please follow the federal, state and local jurisdiction recommendations of social distancing, washing your hands, covering your coughs/sneezes and STAYING HOME. We are requesting your help because we care about you and our community. The Board of County Commissioners believe in all our rights and does not want to have this become an enforceable action required by the State.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
