Walla Walla University has announced that it will be using a “flex” learning model when the fall quarter begins.
With this model, some classes will be offered in person, but the majority of the classes will be offered online or a hybrid in-person model.
The Walla Walla Community College will also be adopting the same learning model. Meanwhile, Whitman College will have all online classes.
“Their concerns are justified given the context of the pandemic,” University President John McVay told the Union-Bulletin. “Following those concerns will help us to operate safely... We are especially interested in inviting freshmen and seniors back to campus."
The University has also formed a COVID-19 response task force. Dr. Kari Firestone, a professor of nursing and associate dean of WWU’s nursing school, will spearhead the team.
“Dr. Firestone has a strong and positive reputation at WWU as both an able academician and a skilled administrator, and we will be blessed by her direction as we care for our Walla Walla University family and the communities in which we serve,” McVay told the Union-Bulletin.
