Patent office approves 1 patent for Walla Walla innovators in week ending Aug. 15

Patent 3

There was one patent granted in Walla Walla in the week ending Aug. 15, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is one more than the week before. The patent was for a center pivot irrigation gooseneck with varying cross-sectional diameters.

The patent was filed on July 7, 2017

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
