City of Long Beach recently issued the following announcement on Feb. 18.
In 1883 the Tinker's built what was first known as Tinker's Hotel. The Ilwaco Navigation Company decided to build a railroad from Ilwaco extending north all the way to Nahcotta and the first five miles of track reached Tinkerville in July of 1888. The Tinker's renamed their hotel in 1892 to the Long Beach Hotel which by then was surrounded by hundreds of cottages. In 1895 the Long Beach Hotel burned to the ground but the Tinkers built a new one in its place. The Long Beach Hotel stood right in the middle of what is now the intersection of Bolstad and Pacific.
