Ilwaco Walking Tour – Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum on May 21, 2022

Events

Event Name: Ilwaco Walking Tour – Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum

Beginning this May, past CPHM Community Historian Michael Lemeshko will begin leading walking tours of historic Ilwaco. The tours will focus on early events and locations highlighting the founding of Ilwaco and its growth through 1899. We invite you to join us to learn about and view the locations of Hayden’s Cove Saloon, the Ilwaco Wharf Company’s pier, Finn Hall, the Aberdeen Packing Company, the Ilwaco Railway & Navigation Company pier, the Unity Hotel, and many other intriguing places that were the scenes of Ilwaco’s rich history, and sometimes rowdy past. You will also get a glimpse of the early movers and shakers, including J. D. Holman, Jonathon and Annie Stout, William Haydon, B.A. Seaborg, Lewis A Loomis, and Ilwaco Jim aka Elowaka’s Jim.

Michael is currently investigating the life of B. A. Seaborg, an early Pacific County entrepreneur who had an outsized influence on Ilwaco. A fair amount of the details that will be provided on the tour are new information and are the results of this research.

The tours will be held May thru September on the 3rd Saturday of each month starting at 2 PM and will take approximately one and a half hours. You must reserve a spot for the tour by calling the museum at 360-642-3446. The tour is $5 per person and proceeds go to support the museum. The tours will be limited to no more than 15 people and will meet at the parking lot next to the museum. All participants will be required to wear a safety vest which will be provided. Tours will take place rain or shine, so dress appropriately.

Come, join us and learn about the people and places that make up Ilwaco’s early days of old. You will be happy you did!
