2022: 58 coaches at institutions in Walla Walla County earned on average $20,417

Walla Walla County’s 58 coaches earned an average salary of $20,417 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the eighth highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Washington post-secondary schools during 2022.

Walla Walla County is home to three post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Whitman College stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $37,509.

Male coaches of men's teams received $26,517 on average in Walla Walla County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $25,522.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
