The 117th Session of the National Sheriffs Institute was held at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia from April 25th through April 29th. The course was conducted by the United State Department of Justice National Institute of Corrections in conjunction with the Major County Sheriffs of America. The course covered principles of leadership, community engagement, and challenges faced by first-term Sheriffs. Twenty-four Sheriffs from across the United States attended the course. The Washington State Sheriffs' Association would like to congratulate Okanogan County Sheriff Tony Hawley, Cowlitz County Sheriff Brad Thurman, and Pend Oreille County Sheriff Glenn Blakeslee for attending this course and their commitment to serve their communities.
