Rep. Elected in 2023, Perez shares information essential for constituents potentially affected by these updates.

On April 14, 2025, Perez noted a significant change in the SSA's overpayment policy, "The SSA has also changed its overpayment policy – now withholding 100% of your benefits to recoup mistaken overpayments, instead of 10%." She urged her followers to vigilantly monitor their benefits and maintain current income information to prevent agency errors.

Moreover, on the same day, she highlighted new identity verification requirements for those amending their direct deposit information or flagged phone claims. "Nevertheless, those changing direct deposit info (or with phone claims flagged as suspicious) will now be required to verify their identity online at \[link\] or in person." Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez pointed out various SSA offices available for personal verification.

She also emphasized the importance of setting up online accounts for Social Security and the IRS amidst recent changes and staffing reductions. On April 14, 2025, she advised, "With the flurry of recent changes and staff cuts, I still recommend you set up online accounts for Social Security and the IRS as soon as possible and tell your loved ones to do so as well." She directed constituents to resources for avoiding scams and provided contact information for further assistance.
