Firefighters from across the valley attacked a house and grass fire in Clarkston Wednesday

Firefighters from across the valley attacked a house and grass fire in Clarkston Wednesday.

Asotin County Fire District #1 was dispatched to explosions and a house fire on Crestview Drive just before 1pm this afternoon.

The first arriving crews reported a home engulfed with flames and a grass fire threatening another home and several out buildings.

Fire crews from Lewiston, Clarkston, Asotin, Clearwater Paper and two wildlind crews from Washington State Department of Natural Resources all helped attack the fire.

Asotin County Fire Chief Noel Hardin said with the over 100 degree temperatures, it is imperative to get many firefighters on scene because the firefighters can't last long in the heat.

Hardin stated, several firefighters were treated for heat related issues.

A person living in the home received non life-threatening burns and was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

The fire was contained to the home and no other homes or structures were damaged. There were areas in the home that had collapsed and Asotin County Firefighters continued to

put out hot spots into the evening.

Chief Hardin wanted to thank all the valley fire departments who helped in this blaze. He said he was impressed on how all the departments continue to come together as one team

inlarge events.

The cause if the fire has not been determined.
